Sustainability Fair A Rousing Success

Sustainability Fair A Rousing Success

Editor, The Cheshire Herald:

On a beautiful Saturday in October, the Coalition for a Sustainable Cheshire worked with Cheshire High School senior, Josh Koppel, and UConn Environmental Studies senior, Caitlin Daddona, to organize Cheshire’s first-ever Sustainability Fair on the First Congregational Church’s green. The community response was overwhelmingly positive.

Of course, such success would not have been realized without the support of so many amazing organizations in our town and region. We wish to thank all our Sustainability Fair participants: Save the Sound, Mill River Watershed Association, Cheshire Pollinator Pathway, Friends of Boulder Knoll Farm, the Energy Commission, Quinnipiac Valley Audubon Society/Riverbound Farm, Cheshire Land Trust, UConn’s Natural Resources Conservation Academy, Cheshire Creation Care, and the Cheshire High School Sustainability Education Team.

We also wish to thank our additional Cheshire High School Coalition liaisons — Siddhant Bhardwaj for his amazing work on our Coalition web page which advertised the event; and Maya Gessman who has been focusing her attention working with Cheshire’s Pollinator Pathway.  We additionally thank David Hick of Mr. Tent, the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, the Cheshire Historical Society, First Congregational Church, and UConn’s Natural Resources Conservation Academy for their support in bringing this amazing event to our town.

We are hopeful that this is the first of many Sustainability Fairs in Cheshire!
