On Thursday, Cheshire High School boys’ lacrosse (10-2) exploded offensively in a 21-6 victory over Shelton (3-8) and extended their win streak to five games. Shelton took a 2-1 lead in the opening quarter, but the Rams closed the first half on a 15-0 run and proceeded to sweep the series in the regular season.
With senior Aidan Gaudet controlling 18 of 20 face-offs, the Rams continued to build on their lead. Junior Jason Raba tied his career-high goal total (five) and picked up two assists.
Senior Jack Lovelace recorded three goals and four assists. Senior co-captain Brian Bouwman contributed three of his four goals in the first half and earned an assist.
Sophomore Charles Kurtz tallied all of his personal-best four assists in the first half. Kurtz also joined senior Jack Davis and sophomore Ben Thompson with two goals. Thompson tied his career-high total.
Senior Evan Stern supplied a goal and two assists. Seniors PJ Cass (assist) and Ryan Mancl added goals. Junior Max Manware and sophomore Aiden Larke chipped in assists.
In net, senior Andrew Vernon and sophomore Connor Atwater both earned three saves. Sophomore Mike Bowman also made his first save.
On Saturday, CHS plays Simsbury (9-2) at 6 p.m.
Girls’ Golf (9-1)
Cheshire picked up their fourth consecutive victory, winning 184-212 over host Lauralton Hall (3-6) at Oronoque Country Club. The Rams won the rivalry series in the regular season.
Sophomore Sydney Hidalgo was the medalist (41) for the sixth time this year. Senior captain Bella DelRosso and senior Molly DeMeo tied with a 47, while juniors Mia Hidalgo and Mackenzie Corcoran both recorded a 48.
Freshman Sophia DelRosso added a 56.
Next Monday, May 17, Cheshire hosts Amity at Southington Country Club. Start time is 3 p.m.
CHS defeated the Spartans on April 28 (189-197) and May 11 (185-193).

Boys’ Tennis (13-1)
Winners of seven straight matches, the Rams visit the University of New Haven to face host Notre Dame-West Haven (6-7) at 3:45 p.m.
Girls’ Tennis (5-9)
For the final home match, Cheshire plays Sacred Heart Academy (3-10) at 4 p.m. On April 23, the Rams earned a 4-3 road victory in Hamden.
Prior to Friday’s match, tri-captains Alyssa Behuniak, Kate Koval, and Ellie Rockoff, as well as Hannah Brennan, Megan Crowley, and Tarana Eldredge, will be honored on Senior Day.
CHS visits Wallingford’s Pat Wall Field to compete against host Lyman Hall (7-7) at 3:45 p.m. On April 23, the Rams beat the Trojans, 11-10, in eight innings to earn their first win.
The unbeaten Rams visit Woodbridge for a rematch with Amity (11-3) at 4:15 p.m. On April 17, CHS earned a 4-0 shutout in the first meeting.
Girls’ Lacrosse (10-3)
After a five-game road trip, Cheshire returns to Alumni Field to face Guilford (10-2) at 6 p.m. On April 20, the Grizzlies won 17-10 over CHS.
Boys’ Volleyball (11-2)
Riding a 10-match win streak, the Rams host Shelton (10-3) at 6 p.m. On May 3, Cheshire won 3-0 at Shelton.
