The following information was distributed by the Town of Cheshire:
To All Cheshire Senior Center members, program participants, and class instructors:
As you are undoubtedly aware, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the United States and, over the past few days, announcements have been made regarding at least two confirmed cases in our state and some incidents of exposure. In an effort to reduce the spread of this virus and, in particular, to protect the older members of our community, we have sought guidance from our local health department in regard to managing our Senior/Transportation Services programs. After much consideration, we have decided to cancel all Senior Services programs and activities and to limit our transportation services through Friday, March 27, 2020, at which point we will re-evaluate. We will do our best to reschedule all cancelled classes and programs.
If you are someone who utilizes our Senior Transportation Services, please be aware that we will be providing transportation for the following purposes only for this time period:
· Medical appointments
· Prescription pick-ups
· Grocery shopping, and
· Food Pantry appointments
When you call to make an appointment with transportation, please know that our dispatcher has been instructed to ask some important questions regarding your health and the health of those with whom you reside. We ask for your cooperation in responding honestly so that we can reduce the health risks to others.
We have included some important information from our local health department. Should you have questions regarding that information, please contact Chesprocott Health District at (203) 272-2761.
