Prom Closet Back For Another Year

Prom Closet Back For Another Year

We are a few months away from prom season, but that doesn’t mean the preparations haven’t begun. And for one Cheshire High School sophomore, preparing from prom means lending a special helping hand.

The Prom Closet, started by Madelyn Falcone and now taken over by her sister Jillian, offers high school-aged girls from the surrounding area the chance to chose from a large assortment of prom dresses that have been donated by members of the community. Falcone has collected over 125 prom dresses and, working with a local beauty salon, Allin Hair Studio in Cheshire, area girls are invited to come in and try on dresses to see if one is to their liking. If so, they get to take the dress home for free.

On Feb. 19, Falcone and other volunteers, utilizing space provided at Allin Hair Studio, gave away over 40 dresses. The salon is also offering girls the opportunity to come in and try on dresses now through March 15. The dresses were collected in partnership with Feldman Orthodontics and Allin Hair Studio, who agreed to serve as drop-off sites for people who donated. Free giveaway raffles for some prom accessories, including two spray tans, prom hair, prom makeup, and a gift bag, were all offered on Feb. 19.
