Cheshire American Legion Senior Baseball Avoids Elimination, Beats Pawtucket At Regionals

To stave off elimination in the Northeast Regional Tournament, Cheshire American Legion Senior baseball (32-12) defeated Pawtucket (Rhode Island) 7-2 on Friday morning at Palmer Field in Middletown. Kyle Waldron (six hits and strikeouts, walk) pitched into the eighth inning before Christian Colp (two walks, strikeout) entered in relief.
Mike Purcell had two doubles and a single, adding two RBIs. Dan Schock contributed a home run, double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Jon Koski had an RBI triple, stolen base, walk, and a run scored. Pat Downey (RBI sacrifice fly), Matt Hickey, and Ryan Pierpont (run scored) also singled.
Joey Anderson added an RBI sacrifice fly, walk, run scored, and a stolen base. Wes Robertson walked and scored in the third inning.
Cheshire is scheduled to play on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. They face the winner of tonight's game between Middletown and Rocky Hill-Cromwell-Portland (RCP).
