American Legion Senior Baseball Falls In First Northeast Regional Game

On Thursday, Cheshire American Legion Senior baseball (31-12) dropped their inaugural game in the Northeast Regional Tournament 7-1 to Bangor (Maine; 24-5) at Palmer Field in Middletown. Bangor scored the last five runs of the game. Cheshire left 17 runners on base during the game.
The team received two singles from Dan Schock (walk), Mike Purcell (run scored), and Matt Hickey (walk). Wes Robertson (walk), Pat Downey (hit by pitch), Joey Anderson, and Kyle Hodgdon added singles. Jon Koski picked up an RBI on a bases-loaded walk. Ryan Pierpont (hit by pitch) and Jay Schaff also earned walks.
Liam Davey (three hits, two strikeouts) relieved pitcher Parker Barnell (eight hits, six strikeouts, two hit by pitches, walk) in the eighth inning.
Cheshire returns on Friday for an elimination game against Pawtucket (Rhode Island) at 9:30 a.m.
