Several residents spoke out against the proposed Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru last night, stating that both the Shell station on West Main Street, where the drive-thru installation is planned, and the adjacent state road are already too congested.
Nearby homeowners explained that, during certain hours in the day, traffic is backed up to the residential homes’ driveways on Prospect Road, near West Main Street. When there is a car accident on Interstate 84, Prospect Road is oftentimes used as an alternate route. Adding a Dunkin’ Donuts to the Shell station would only increase traffic, they said.
Frank Salvatore, owner of The Notch Store, spoke out against the application due to the traffic, and conducted his own study of how many cars visit the gas station on a given day.
