Cheshire Lambs Play Field Hockey In 15-U Nutmeg State Games Tournament

On Friday, Cheshire Lambs 15-U field hockey (1-3) played in the Nutmeg State Games Tournament at Newington's Clem Lemire Recreation Complex. They defeated Danbury 2-0 in the opener and then came up short against Granby (2-1), HTC (5-1), and FC United Red (4-0).
Sarah Pierpont had three goals, two assisted by classmate Julie Roche (goal). Goalkeeper Colleen Carroll compiled 12 saves against HTC and eight versus FC United Red. Carroll shut out Danbury. Olivia Larson, a 2014 Cheshire High School graduate/former co-captain, coached the team.

Play continues on Saturday at the same site. Cheshire Rams compete in the 18-U High School bracket. They will meet Enfield (10 a.m.), Danbury (11 a.m.), Hamden (12 p.m.), and Bethel (1 p.m.) in pool action. Graduated CHS co-captain Michelle Federico will coach the defending tournament champs.
