CHS Girls' Tennis Finishes Up In State Open, Girls' LAX To Visit West Haven For Class L Semi

On Saturday, Cheshire High School girls' tennis traveled to West Hartford for the Opening Round of the State Open. Cheshire collected two victories in doubles at Hall. Senior twin sisters Katie and Christy Freitag defeated Rocky Hill freshman Urja Desani and junior Yomari Mercano 8-2, while senior Ashley Tartaglia and junior Sidney Tomko beat Bristol Eastern seniors Samantha Bevivino and Abigail Geda 8-5.
Senior Nadja Pejovic played singles at Conard, coming up short 8-2 against Trumbull senior Corrie MacLean.
CHS graduates the Freitag sisters, Pejovic, and Tartaglia. Pejovic and the Freitags joined classmate Sarah Sullivan as a captain.
Girls' Lacrosse (seventh seed, 15-5)
Cheshire takes a five-game win streak into Tuesday's Class L semifinals, facing defending champion Darien (third, 16-2) at West Haven. Start time is 5 p.m.
