CHS Boys Sweep On Friday

On Friday, Cheshire High School baseball (10-5, 5-2 in Housatonic Division) defeated Career Magnet (9-6) 7-1. The win evened the series.
Junior Liam Davey (1-1) threw six scoreless innings to earn his first victory at CHS. He allowed a hit and walk, striking out five. Davey was relieved by classmate Adam vonFischer (two hits, walk, run) with one out in the seventh.
Seniors Dan Schock contributed a triple, two-run single, and two runs scored. Classmate Ethan Lonardelli (run scored) smacked a three-run home run. Senior Matt Hickey (run scored), along with juniors Cooper Mrowka (RBI, run scored) and Ryan Pierpont (stolen base), all singled. Senior Wes Robertson (walk) and sophomore Tommy Savino (hit by pitch) also scored.
CHS hosts Sheehan (8-6, 3-3) on Monday at 4 p.m. With a win, Cheshire would ensure at least a share of their first division crown since 1996. The Rams won the first meeting 3-2 on April 23.
Boys' Volleyball (10-2)
Cheshire earned a 3-1 (25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23) win at Shelton (8-6) to sweep the series. Senior Greg Zane posted 15 blocks (personal-best), adding seven kills. Classmates Ted Li (12 kills, three blocks), Trent Hager (28 assists, five blocks, two aces), and Colin Haensel (six kills, seven blocks, two digs) also contributed heavily.
CHS hosts Xavier (9-3) on Monday at 6 p.m. The Rams won 3-0 on April 25.
Boys' Tennis (8-4)
Cheshire beat Branford (6-7) 6-1. The Rams received singles victories from seniors Jeremy Reichentahl (6-1, 6-3) and Nick Anthony (6-2, 6-3), along with sophomore Joe Cashore (6-1, 6-0).
Juniors David Light and Reilly Eldredge (7-6 (10-8), 2-6, 6-2), freshmen Sean Crowley and Arnav Velaparthi (6-3, 7-6 (7-2)), and sophomores Sanjay Montagna and Jeff Russitano (6-3, 6-0) swept doubles.
CHS hosts Fairfield Prep on Monday at 3:45 p.m. Cheshire lost 7-0 on April 14.

Boys' Lacrosse (4-8)
The Rams host Andover (Mass.) at 12 p.m.
