Cheshire High School boys' lacrosse improved to 4-6 on Saturday, posting an 11-7 victory at Conard (2-7). CHS led 5-3 at halftime.
Senior goalkeeper Jared Lawson provided 23 saves while classmate Ben Hamel recorded a hat trick and posted an assist. Juniors Matt Blois (two assists) and Anthony Trasacco (assist), along with senior Alec Thomas (assist), all had two goals.
CHS also received goals from senior Matt Samuelson and junior Jack Cunningham. Juniors Zach Winch and Christian Russo contributed assists.
The Rams visit Amity (7-2) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Baseball (7-5, 3-2 in Housatonic Division)
Amity (6-5, 3-2) scored six straight runs to beat visiting CHS 6-2. The teams are 1-1 in the season series.
Cheshire picked up their runs in the second inning. Amity came back with five runs in the fourth and tacked on one more during the fifth. Senior Ethan Lonardelli and sophomore Tommy Savino singled and scored runs. Senior Matt Hickey had an RBI double. Sophomore Altrin Kabashi hit an RBI sacrifice fly.
Senior Wes Robertson singled twice. Junior Ryan Pierpont led off the game with a single.
In his debut, junior Liam Davey (five hits, four strikeouts and walks, two hit by pitches) pitched into the fourth and took the loss. Senior Kyle Waldron (hit strikeout) and sophomore Nick Sansone also threw for the Rams.
Cheshire hosts Shelton on Monday at 4:30 p.m. CHS shut out the Gaels 2-0 on April 14.
Girls' Outdoor Track and Field
On the second day of the Middletown Invite, sophomore Janaia Skibitcky broke her own school record in triple jump (34 feet, five inches). More information to come!
