On Wednesday, Cheshire High School baseball (5-3, 3-1 in Housatonic Division) secured a 3-2 win at Sheehan (5-3, 2-1). Senior Kyle Waldron (1-1) pitched a complete game, striking out seven. He yielded six hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch.
Cheshire went ahead 1-0 in the third inning. After Sheehan jumped ahead 2-1 on a two-run double from junior Turner French in the fourth, CHS pushed across the winning two runs during the fifth.
Junior Ryan Pierpont had two hits, including an RBI double in the fifth. Senior Wes Robertson (single) had a pair of RBI sacrifice flies, the second of which brought home sophomore Nick Sansone (walk, single, two runs scored) to break the 2-2 tie.
Sophomore Tommy Savino (run scored) and senior Ethan Lonardelli added singles.
The Rams host Daniel Hand (3-4) on Friday at 4 p.m.
Softball (6-1, 2-1)
Cheshire picked up their third win in a row 12-1 at Lyman Hall (2-5, 0-3). Juniors Olivia Odermatt and Maggie O'Reilly both smacked their first home runs. They had two hits and runs scored and three RBIs. Classmate Casey Harding (run scored) added two hits and tied her personal-best in RBIs (five).
Juniors Mackenzie Juodaitis pitched two innings, followed by the varsity debut of freshman Abby Abramson (four strikeouts, hit). Junior Tori D'Amato (strikeout) worked the seventh.
CHS travels to Jonathan Law (6-2) on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Tennis (3-3)
After starting 0-3, Cheshire reached the .500 mark with a 5-2 win over Hamden (2-4). Senior captains Jeremy Reichentahl (6-2, 6-3) and Nick Anthony (6-1, 6-2) won in singles.
Juniors David Light and Reilly Eldredge (6-0, 6-0), freshmen Arnav Velaparthi and Sean Crowley (6-1, 6-0), and sophomores Sanjay Montagna and Jeff Russitano (6-0, 6-3) swept the doubles.

Boys' Outdoor Track and Field (4-0)
The Rams defeated host North Haven (90.5-59.5), Hamden (85 2/3-64 1/3), and Jonathan Law (106-44). Junior Mark Fusco captured the 800- (2:13.3) and 1,600-meters (4:50.6). He also factored into winning the 4x400-meter relay (junior Frank Fusco, seniors Trey Phillips and Yadi Lukashenko; 3:42.1).
Frank Fusco and Lukashenko joined seniors Mike Milici and Tyler Post on the victorious 4x100-meter team (44.8). Seniors Chibueze Njoku (discus; 157 feet, eight inches) and Liam Nicoll (400-meters, 52.4), along with junior Russell Adam (3,200-meters, 10:50.5), also won events.
Sheehan hosts Saturday's Meenahan Relays at 9 a.m.
Boys' Volleyball (5-1)
In a meeting of unbeaten teams, Cheshire lost 3-2 (25-21, 11-25, 19-25, 25-20, 9-15) against Newington (6-0). Senior Trent Hager supplied 43 assists (career-high) and two aces. Senior Ted Li had 16 kills (personal-best) and three digs. Senior Anthony Carbone contributed 10 kills and nine digs (personal-high). Classmate Greg Zane recorded four kills and five blocks.
For Newington, junior Jordan Aprea earned 18 kills and 17 digs. Senior Riley McManus distributed 51 assists and added 15 digs.
Cheshire visits Xavier (4-1) on Friday at 5 p.m.
Girls' Tennis (3-3)
The Lady Rams dropped their third straight match 6-1 at Amity (5-0). At number two doubles, senior Ashley Tartaglia and junior Sidney Tomko extended their unbeaten season in three sets (4-6, 7-5, 10-3).
Cheshire visits defending Southern Connecticut Conference Champion Daniel Hand (4-0) on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
Girls' Golf (0-3)
CHS fell short 212-234 to Sacred Heart Academy. Freshman Sophia Qiu (53) and junior Dana Zappone (57) led the way. Sophomore Olivia Hally (61), junior Maria Buzzelli (63), and sophomore Natalie Anastasio (64) followed them.

Girls' Lacrosse (4-1)
The Lady Rams host Daniel Hand (4-1) at 7 p.m. It is a rematch of the 2013 SCC final won 17-14 by CHS.
