Baseball Continues Hot Streak, Girls' Lacrosse Pulls Away At Amity

On Saturday, Cheshire High School baseball (4-2, 2-0 in Housatonic Division) secured its fourth win in a row 7-3 at Branford (2-3). in his third win of the week, senior Ethan Lonardelli (3-1; five hits, three strikeouts, two walks) pitched six innings. Junior Adam vonFischer (strikeout) relieved him for the seventh.
Senior Dan Schock went three-for-four with four RBIs and a run scored. Junior Ryan Pierpont (RBI) singled three times and drew a walk, scoring twice and stealing two bases. Senior Matt Hickeys (single) and Wes Robertson (single, RBI sacrifice fly), vonFischer (walk), and sophomore Tommy Savino (single) scored runs. Lonardelli supplied an RBI single.
The Rams host Lyman Hall (2-4, 1-0) on Monday at 4 p.m.
Girls' Lacrosse (3-1)
Cheshire earned a 15-8 victory at Amity. They netted nine of the 12 goals after halftime. Senior Maddy Levy had five goals (tie for career-high) and an assist, while junior Taylor Stauffer collected her first hat trick. Seniors Michelle Federico (personal-best three assists) and Olivia Larson, along with sophomore Meghan Dutchyshyn (assist), added two goals. Senior Danielle Chambrelli (goal) and junior Emma Gaudio recorded assists.
Junior Alexa Carbone made nine saves.
CHS visits Branford (4-0) on Monday at 7 p.m.
Boys' Lacrosse (1-4)
At Sachem North, N.Y., Cheshire lost 14-7 against Riverhead (N.Y.). Senior Matt Rougeot and junior Anthony Trasacco scored three goals. It was the first hat trick for Trasacco.
Senior Matt Samuelson added a goal. Junior Matt Blois had two assists and senior goalkeeper Jared Lawson posted 18 saves.
Cheshire hosts Guilford (3-2) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
