The Annual Steve Horvath Memorial Fishing Derby, sponsored by Cheshire Parks and Recreation, has been postponed today due to inclement weather.
The Derby is traditionally the kickoff event for the Parks and Rec Department's week-long set of activities scheduled around the School District's spring recess. Heavy rain has been falling on the area throughout the morning, however, and is not expected to subside until later in the evening.
The new date for the Derby will be Saturday, May 3, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 7:45 a.m.
The Annual Fly a Kite event is still scheduled from tomorrow from 10 to 11 a.m., while Touch a Truck will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Both events will take place at Bartlem Park and there is no rain date for either if weather forces a cancellation.
