Cheshire Ice Hockey Wins Regular Season Finale, Girls' B-Ball Ends Season At Stamford

On Monday, Cheshire High School ice hockey ice hockey (10-9-1) ended the regular season with a 6-2 win against South Windsor (8-10-2) at Northford Ice Pavilion. CHS had five straight goals after being down 1-0 in the first period.
The Rams received goals from senior Jon Hauser, Greg Zovas (assist), Matt Vallillo, junior Matt Jordan, senior Joey D'Errico (two assists), and freshman Jake Wallinger. Seniors Cody Borowski and Alex Bausch added assists. Shots were 42-25 in favor of the Rams. Senior goalkeeper Joey Solla made 23 saves.
Cheshire meets Branford (top, 15-4-1) in Thursday's Southern Connecticut Conference-Southwestern Conference Division II semifinal at West Haven. Start time is 8 p.m. Cheshire lost 5-3 to the Hornets on Jan. 25.
Girls' Basketball (24th, 11-11)
The Lady Rams took a 55-46 loss in the Class LL First Round at Stamford (ninth, 18-5). Stamford had a 29-19 advantage at halftime. Senior Missy Bailey scored 19 points, finishing her career with 1,030. Senior Bryanna McIntosh and junior Kya O'Donnell had eight. Juniors Jill Howard and Sara Como netted four and three, respectively. Senior Lily Dolyak and junior Kelly Glatt chipped in two.
Cheshire graduates its tri-captains: Bailey, Dolyak, McIntosh.
Tuesday's varsity action:
Sophomore Sal DeLucia competes in SCC Diving at Hamden. New start time is 5 p.m.
