Girls' Skaters Shut Out Lauralton Hall, Girls' B-Ball Falls To SHA Again In SCC First Round

On Thursday at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport, Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Co-Op girls' ice hockey improved to 9-9 with a 6-0 win over host Lauralton Hall. Senior tri-captain Abbie Lange supplied her first hat trick. Freshman Alyssa Stevens also set her personal-best for assists (two). Junior Alexa Carbone (goal) and sophomore Rachel Kozak both had assists from CHS.
The team led 48-8 in shots. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Cremo collected the shutout.
On Friday, the girls meet host Simsbury at Simsbury Farms Ice Rink. Start time is 4:30 p.m. The defending Southern Connecticut Conference Champions, the Trojans won 6-0 on Jan. 11.
Girls' Basketball (sixth seed; 11-10)
Cheshire lost 46-41 to Sacred Heart Academy (11th, 10-11) in the SCC First Round. SHA trailed 8-0 to start the game, but the score was tied 22-22 at halftime. With the score tied 38-38 in the fourth quarter, a four-point play from SHA sophomore Kaleigh Putnam ignited an 8-3 run to end the game.
Senior Bryanna McIntosh and junior Jill Howard both had 10 points, while senior Missy Bailey and junior Sara Como added eight. Junior Kya O'Donnell netted three three points. Senior Lily Dolyak had two.
SHA swept the series. The Lady Rams await seeding for the Class LL Tournament. First Round action starts March 4.

Wrestling
The Rams start the Class LL Championship at Trumbull. Action begins at 4 p.m.
Boys' Swim and Dive (9-2)
Cheshire visits Kennedy in Waterbury to face Brookfield at 6 p.m.
Boys' Basketball (12-6, Housatonic Division Champion at 7-0)
CHS travels to Hillhouse (14-4) at 7 p.m. The Academics won 61-47 on Jan. 22.
