Boys' Basketball Seniors Tip Amity, Girls' B-Ball And Skaters Fall Short

On Friday, Cheshire High School boys' basketball (11-4, 6-0 in Housatonic Division) collected their sixth straight victory 48-45 against Amity (5-11, 3-4) on Senior Night. CHS won the season series and earned at a share of the Housatonic title.
Senior Collin Jordan scored 14 points (21 total) to put Cheshire up 31-23 at halftime. Senior Jon Rizzo netted eight points. Classmates Tyler Post and Tom Arisco had seven and six, respectively. The Rams received baskets from seniors Reid Duglenski, Pedro Pena, and junior Andrew Yamin.
Senior Night honorees: Jordan (captain), Post (captain), Arisco, Mark Dietrich, Duglenski, Pena, Rizzo, Adam Nizich (manager). Senior cheerleaders Jess D'Andrea (captain), Moira Duglenski (captain), Sam Welch (captain), and Morgan Worthy were announced before the boys.

The Rams visit Career Magnet on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Career earned a 80-75 road win on Jan. 16.
Girls' Basketball (10-8, 3-4)
For the second time, Cheshire was defeated by host Amity (16-1, 7-0) 54-38. The Spartans led 34-11 at halftime. Senior Missy Bailey posted 12 points. Junior Sara Como added eight, while classmate Jill Howard had seven. Senior Bryanna McIntosh had three points. Junior Kya O'Donnell, along with sophomores Nillie Burton, Maria Parenteau, and Janine Zumerchik chipped in two points.
The Lady Rams visit defending Class LL Champion Mercy on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Mercy was victorious 72-41 on Jan. 15.
Girls' Ice Hockey (7-8)
Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Co-Op lost 8-1 at Hamden (8-6). Amity freshman Meaghan Francis used a pass from senior Abbie Lange to put the Connecticut Blades up 1-0 in the first period, only, the Green Dragons netted the final eight goals.
Hamden out shot the team 44-19 in winning the season series.
The Blades host Hall/Conard Co-Op on Saturday at The Rinks at Shelton. Start time is 5:45 p.m. The girls won the first meeting 4-2 on Dec. 30 in West Hartford.

CHS visits Hillhouse's Floyd Little Athletic Center for the Class LL Championship at 10 a.m.
Wrestling (9-11)
The Rams take a seven-meet win streak into a quad meet against Guilford, Simsbury, and host Glastonbury at 10 a.m.
Boys' Ice Hockey (6-6-1)
Cheshire hosts Daniel Hand (7-6) at Wesleyan. Start time is 10:15 a.m. CHS won 2-1 on Jan. 4 at the Northford Ice Pavilion.
