Cheshire High School boys' basketball (8-4) improved to 4-0 in the Housatonic Division on Friday, winning 75-45 against host Lyman Hall (3-11, 0-5). It was their third straight victory. Junior Andrew Yamin had 19 points for the Rams, who have won both meetings with the Trojans.
CHS hosts Shelton (7-6, 3-1) on Monday at 7 p.m.
Girls' Basketball (9-7, 2-3)
The Lady Rams lost to Lyman Hall (12-3, 4-1) for the second time 60-42. The Trojans scored the first 12 points of the game and held a 28-16 halftime advantage. CHS pulled to within 40-37 at the end of the third quarter, but had just five points in the final quarter.
In return from injury, senior Missy Bailey (three rebounds) scored nine points during the third quarter. Junior Jill Howard (seven rebounds, block, steal) also had nine. Junior Sara Como added eight points and classmate Kya O'Donnell (two steals) scored seven. Sophomore Ciara Haensel (four points, five points, block) and Kelly Glatt (three points) chipped in seven points off the bench. Senior Bryanna McIntosh added two points, five rebounds, and two steals.
The Lady Rams visit Shelton on Monday at 7 p.m. Cheshire won 60-44 on Dec. 30.
Boys' Swim And Dive (7-2)
Cheshire came up short 94-83 at Pomperaug (9-0), the six-time defending Class L Champion. Cheshire received individual wins from sophomores Karl Bishop (500-yard freestyle, 5:00.63) and Mike Goodrich (100-yard breaststroke, 1:06.33), along with freshman Ryan Mostoller (100-yard backstroke, 59.03).
Senior Alex Bauer, Mostoller, sophomore Kyle Shadeck, and Bishop teamed up to win the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:38.61).
CHS visits Hamden on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
