CHS Stays Unbeaten In The Pool, Wrestlers Fall To Amity

At Wilbur Cross, Cheshire High School boys' swim and dive improved to 6-0 by beating host Notre Dame-West Haven (4-1) 99-84. Sophomore Karl Bishop won the 200- (1:53.06) and 500-yard (5:07.78) freestyles. Classmates Alex Cheruk (50-yard freestyle, 23.53), Kyle Shadeck (200-yard individual medley, 2:09.53), and Michael Goodrich (100-yard breaststroke, 1:07.85) were also victorious individually.
Bishop added a relay victory with his 200-yard freestyle team (senior Alex Bauer, Cheruk, Goodrich; 1:37.84). Cheruk was also a triple-winner with his contributions to the 200-yard medley squad (senior Brian Johnson, Goodrich, Shadeck; 1:47.43).
Cheshire visits West Haven on Friday at 7 p.m.
Wrestling (1-7)
The Rams came up short 45-33 against Amity (1-3) despite taking a 24-12 lead. Senior Gabe Vega (170 pounds) joined sophomore Owen Brown (113) and freshman Sean Black (106) with pins. Sophomore Matt Robidoux was victorious 7-6 at 152. Junior Mohammed Mahmud (182) and sophomore Austin Ingarra (220) picked up forfeits.
The New Milford Tournament is Saturday at 9 a.m.
