On Monday, Cheshire High School girls' basketball (7-4, 2-2 in Housatonic Division) came up short 52-51 to Guilford (4-7). Guilford senior Presley Altieri made the game-winning basket in the final minute. CHS junior Jill Howard had 15 points and rebounds, collecting six blocks, all personal-bests.
Seniors Lily Dolyak and Bryanna McIntosh posted 10 and nine points, respectively. Junior Kelly Glatt chipped in eight points. Junior Kya O'Donnell scored four points and junior Sara Como added three. Ciara Haensel netted two points.
CHS hosts undefeated Mercy (10-0) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Boys' Basketball (5-2, 3-0)
At Fairfield University, Cheshire lost 72-55 against unbeaten host Fairfield Prep (9-0). CHS trailed 47-25 at the break. The loss ended a five-game win streak for Cheshire. Junior Andrew Yamin scored 18 points. CHS received nine, eight, and seven points, respectively, from seniors Pedro Pena, Collin Jordan, and Tyler Post.
The Rams host undefeated Career Magnet (7-0) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Girls' Ice Hockey (4-4)
Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Co-Op took a 6-0 loss against reigning Southern Connecticut Conference Champion Simsbury (6-1) on Monday from The Rinks at Shelton. The team travels to the Newington Area on Friday to face host East Catholic at 8:30 p.m. East Catholic claimed the first meeting 8-0 last Saturday.
