Cheshire Boys' Swim And Dive Moves To 5-0, B-Ball Teams Split Against Amity

On Friday, Cheshire High School boys' swim and dive improved to 5-0 by defeating host Sacred Heart (3-2) 99-84 at Kennedy in Waterbury. Sophomore Karl Bishop was victorious in the 200- (1:51.05) and 500-yard (4:52.78) freestyles, while classmate Kyle Shadeck (100-yard butterfly, 56.13) and senior Brian Johnson (100-yard backstroke, 1:01.52) also secured first places.
On Tuesday, CHS travels to Wilbur Cross to face host Notre Dame-West Haven at 4 p.m.
Boys' Basketball (5-1, 3-0 in Housatonic Division)
Senior Jon Rizzo netted 17 points (personal-best) to lead Cheshire to their fifth straight victory 61-33 at Amity (2-5, 0-2). Cheshire led 35-16 at halftime. Junior Andrew Yamin posted 12 points.
CHS visits Fairfield University on Monday, meeting host Fairfield Prep (8-0) at 7 p.m.
Girls' Basketball (7-3, 2-2)
Cheshire, led by senior Missy Bailey (18 points, lost 60-54 against Amity (9-1, 3-0). CHS trailed 33-31 at halftime.
Junior Kya O'Donnell posted her best numbers for points (12) and steals (four). She added five rebounds. Sophomore Ciara Haensel had seven points, eight rebounds, and two blocks, both personal-highs. Juniors Sara Como and Jill Howard (11 rebounds) posted five and four points, respectively. CHS received three points from senior Lily Dolyak and sophomore Emily Inzero. Senior Bry McIntosh scored two points.
The Lady Rams host Guilford (3-6) on Monday at 7 p.m.
