Rams Hockey Drops Home Opener In OT

In Tuesday's home opener at Wesleyan University, Cheshire High School ice hockey (1-4) lost for the second time in overtime 6-5 against Xavier (2-2). Xavier sophomore Cam Pollock (two goals) put in the game-winner with 1:44 left in extra time.
Cheshire used a 3-0 spurt to take a 5-3 lead in the third period. Senior Luke Vendetto added two goals and junior Greg Zovas added his first score with 5:24 remaining in regulation. The Falcons came back to force overtime.
Senior Chris Stevens (assist) and junior Matt Jordan posted goals. Senior Cody Borowski recorded two assists. Cheshire also received assists from seniors Jon Hauser, Dan Purslow, and Alex Bausch. Senior goalkeeper Joey Solla made 36 saves.
On Saturday, CHS plays host Daniel Hand (3-2) at the Northford Ice Pavilion. Start time is 8:30 p.m.
