On Monday, Cheshire High School girls' basketball (6-1, 1-0) defeated Shelton (0-6, 0-1) 60-44 in the Housatonic Division opener. Junior Sara Como posted 18 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals (personal-high), and three blocks (career-high) in a 60-44 victory. Junior Jill Howard (three blocks, career-high 12 rebounds) and senior Lily Dolyak (four rebounds) supplied 11 points. Junior Kya O'Donnell (three rebounds) had eight points. Senior BryAnna McIntosh (two rebounds) added six points. Senior Missy Bailey (nine assists, two points and rebounds) recorded four steals. Sophomore Ciara Haensel made two free throws. Sophomore Maria Parenteau netted her first varsity basket.
The Lady Rams visit Lyman Hall on Friday at 7 p.m.

Girls' Ice Hockey (3-1)
Goals from senior Emma Farrel and freshman Alyssa Stevens broke a 2-2 tie in the third period, leading to a 4-2 win over host West Hartford at Veterans Memorial Ice Skating Rink. The goals came with four and one minute left, respectively. Stevens hadn't scored before. Junior Alexa Carbone joined Stevens with an assist. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Cremo produced 37 saves (personal-best).
The girls travel to West Haven on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Boys' Ice Hockey (1-3)
Tuesday's home opener against Xavier (1-2) starts at 3:45 p.m. Both teams share Wesleyan University.
