Cheshire Boys' Basketball Beats Rival In Friday's Recaps

On Friday, Cheshire High School boys' basketball (2-1) defeated Southington (1-3) 64-48. Senior Collin Jordan (20), junior Andrew Yamin (14), and senior Reid Duglenski (13) were point leaders in the victory.
Cheshire hosts Lyman Hall in next Friday's Housatonic Division opener with Lyman Hall at 7 p.m.
Ice Hockey (1-3)
In the Edward L. Bennett Christmas Tournament Division II final, Amity (3-1) scored times in the last 41 seconds to beat Cheshire 6-4. Senior Luke Vendetto recorded a goal and two assists. Classmates Jonathan Hauser and Joe D'Errico, along with junior Matt Jordan, also had goals. Juniors Kyle Frederick and Anthony Vitale joined senior Dan Purslow with assists.
Senior goalkeeper Joey Solla had 29 saves. Amity had 35 shots to Cheshire's 32.
CHS faces Xavier in Tuesday's home opener at Wesleyan University. Start time is 3:45 p.m.
Girls' Basketball (4-1)
The Lady Rams fell for the first time 59-44 against East Lyme (3-2) in the Berlin Holiday Tournament. Senior Missy Bailey had 11 points. Junior Kya O'Donnell supplied nine.
Cheshire returns to play host Berlin (0-4) on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Girls' Ice Hockey (2-1)
Amity/North Haven/Cheshire lost their first game 5-1 against host Guilford (2-1) at Veteran's Memorial Ice Rink in East Haven. Senior Emma Farrel, assisted by classmate Abbie Lange, scored her first goal. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Cremo had 30 saves (personal-best).
On Monday, the girls play host West Hartford at Veterans Memorial Ice Skating Rink. Start time is 7 p.m.
