Career Night From Como Sparks Cheshire Girls' B-Ball At Hamden

In overtime, Cheshire High School girls' basketball (2-0) won 59-52 at Hamden (0-2). Hamden had a 26-24 lead at halftime, but Cheshire came back in the second half. The score was tied 50-50 going to extra time.
Junior Sara Como had a career-high 22 points, five three-pointers, and 10 rebounds. She had 14 points by halftime. Senior Missy Bailey scored 17 points (15 in the second half), making 13 free throws.
Juniors Jill Howard (11) and Kelly Glatt (five), along with sophomore Ciara Haensel (four), totaled 20 points. Cheshire's Lisa DeGennaro Bailey, a former Hamden star, was recognized before the contest.
Cheshire hosts Hillhouse on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Amity/North Haven/Cheshire Co-Op has postponed Saturday's opener against host Guilford in East Haven. No make-up date has been set yet.
