Wreath Laying Ceremony To Be Held This Weekend

December 11, 2013 by John Rook

Inclement weather forced the cancellation of the Wreaths Across America event yesterday, but local veterans are still looking to honor military men and women buried in Cheshire.
As such, the Cheshire VFW Post will perform a wreath-laying ceremony at Cheshire Veterans Plaza this Saturday at 12 p.m. The plaza is in front of Cheshire Town Hall.
The VFW has performed this event annually for four years, however, with the WAA event scheduled for Tuesday, it was decided that the VFW would partner with the Cheshire High School group BRAVE to perform the ceremony in front of the high school. However, school was cancelled due to the snow and the WAA trailer, carrying wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery, was re-routed away from Cheshire.
There is snow forecast for Saturday. If the weather becomes too severe the ceremony will be delayed to a later date.
