CHS Girls' Basketball Kicks Off New Season On Wednesday

Tonight, Cheshire High School girls' basketball opens the winter season against Daniel Hand at 7 p.m. CHS graduated captains Lauren Como, Emma Gorham, and Molly Jalbert, along with Ariel Greene, after going 9-12 (5-3 in Housatonic Division) last season. They captured a third straight Housatonic title, sharing the honor with Amity. Cheshire (22nd seed) lost 56-50 in the Class LL First Round at Darien (11th).

To preview the season for the fans, the girls teamed with the boys' program to host Almost Midnight Madness in the West Gym. The inaugural event included a co-ed game coached by Principal Jeff Solan and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Greg Florio. Contests Teacher Ralph Zingarella offered his expertise as a referee. The first 50 fans received free T-shirts. Giveaway prizes were also handed out.
