Cheshire High School field hockey extended their win streak to six games on Monday, beating Branford (fifth, 8-9) 4-1 in a Southern Connecticut Conference semifinal at Daniel Hand. In their third win over the Hornets this year, Cheshire held a 2-0 lead at halftime. Senior Emma Farrel had a hat trick, while classmate Michelle Federico had a goal and two assists. Senior Danielle Bellantonio tallied an assist. Senior goalkeeper Maddy Levy had six saves. Branford collected a goal (3-1) from junior Karlee Kessler with 17:20 remaining.
CHS, the two-time defending champion, goes for a three-peat on Wednesday against Daniel Hand (second, 16-1-1) at Branford. Start time is 7 p.m. Hand shut out Guilford (third, 12-5-1) 5-0 in the second semi. Hand beat Cheshire 4-1 on Sept. 17, but CHS won 4-3 on Oct. 8.

Girls' Volleyball (top, 21-0)
The Lady Rams beat Sheehan (ninth, 11-11) 3-0 (25-8, 25-25-17, 25-8) in a SCC quarterfinal. It was their third sweep of the Titans this year. CHS won the last 15 points of the first set under the service of senior Eryn Dorsey. Classmate Eva Whelan had 12 kills, along with two blocks and aces. Juniors Sarah Rodgers (28 assists, five digs), Jillian Haberli (eight kills, two digs), and Maria Buzzelli (eight digs) also contributed to the effort.
Cheshire hosts Branford (fifth, 15-7) in Wednesday's semifinal at 6 p.m. Branford eliminated host Shelton (fourth, 14-7) 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) in their quarterfinal. CHS beat Branford on Oct. 2 (3-0) and last Thursday on Senior Night (3-1).
Senior Theresa Cashore, junior Erin Mostoller, and freshman Emily Glatt will compete in Tuesday's SCC final at Hamden. Start time is 5:30 p.m.
