Cheshire Field Hockey, Girls' Volleyball Pick Up SCC Action On Monday

A pair of Cheshire High School varsity teams hold top seeds in Monday's Southern Connecticut Conference tournament action. Capsules for the two-time defending champions are below:
Field Hockey (15-2)
Cheshire carries a five-game shutout streak into their semifinal against Branford (fifth, 8-8) at Daniel Hand. Start time is 5:30 p.m. CHS shut out Sacred Heart Academy (eighth, 4-10-2) 5-0 for the second time on Saturday, while Branford recorded a 1-0 upset at Amity (fourth, 8-7-2).
CHS defeated Branford on Sept. 13 (2-0) and Oct. 4 (5-3). Cheshire has won two of the first three SCC crowns.
In Monday's second semifinal, Daniel Hand (second, 15-1-1) hosts Guilford (third, 12-4-1) at 7:30 p.m.
Girls' Volleyball (20-0)
After a first-round bye, the Lady Rams host Housatonic Division rival Sheehan (ninth, 11-10) in their quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Sheehan beat host Daniel Hand (eighth, 10-9) 3-1 (25-10, 15-25, 25-10, 25-15) in Friday's First Round.
Cheshire swept Sheehan 3-0 on Sept. 25 and Oct. 14. CHS has won nine SCC titles (record).

Girls' Swimming
The SCC Qualifier is being run at Hamden. Start time is 4:30 p.m. Cheshire is the defending champion and also holds the record for crowns (18).
