The following information was provided by the Cheshire Police Department:
Yesterday, Oct. 20, at 10:38 p.m., the Cheshire Police Department received a call for a serious motor vehicle accident on Route 10 at the intersection of I-691. The accident involved a passenger car, motorcycle, and an SUV.
The investigation revealed that the passenger car, operated by Lourdes Ortiz, 53,of Waterbury, and a motorcycle operated by Moises Larriu, 50, of Plantsville, were both travelling north on Route 10 when a southbound SUV operated by Ryan Scalise, 31, of Middletown, began to turn left onto the I-691 eastbound entrance ramp directly in the path of the two northbound vehicles. Both Larriu’s motorcycle and Ortiz’s car made contact with the SUV. Larriu was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ortiz was not injured.
Scalise was placed under arrest for the above charges and is being held on $100,000 bond. He will be arraigned at Meriden Superior Court this morning.
