Cheshire Field Hockey Shuts Out New Canaan, Boys' Earn Secures First Home Win

Cheshire High School field hockey (8-1) posted their sixth straight victory 2-0 over New Canaan (6-2-1). Cheshire converted twice in the first half. Seniors Emma Farrel and Michelle Federico assisted on a penalty corner by classmate Olivia Larson. Farrel extended the lead with a penalty stroke.
Senior goalkeeper Maddy Levy had seven saves. New Canaan senior Emma Ball saved 10 shots.
Cheshire hosts undefeated Daniel Hand (9-0-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Cheshire lost the first meeting 4-1 on Sept. 17 in Madison, but the rematch counts toward the Southern Connecticut Conference title. CHS is the two-time defending champion.
Boys' Soccer (2-6-1; 1-3 in Housatonic Division)
In a reversal of their 3-2 loss on Sept. 12 at North Haven, Cheshire beat the visiting Indians (4-4-1) 3-2. North Haven led 2-1 at halftime, but Cheshire came back behind sophomore Jake Goldstein scoring his first two goals of the season.
Sophomore Eric Dishnica chipped in two assists. Senior Colin Haensel added his first goal and freshman Dante Rubano picked up his first assist. Neither player had supplied a varsity point before. Junior goalkeeper Matt Skydel came up with seven saves.
CHS visits Amity (7-0-2) on Monday at 3:45 p.m. Cheshire lost the Housatonic opener 2-0 on Sept. 21.
