Officers Under Investigation Resign

October 4, 2013 by John Rook

Two officers under investigation for allegedly using police union funds for personal reasons have resigned, Police Chief Neil Dryfe confirmed to The Cheshire Herald Thursday afternoon.
Det. Capt. Jay Markella and Officer Robert Anderson had been placed on administrative leave, with pay, since July 17 after allegations surfaced that the two had used an unspecified amount of money from the Police Union fund to pay for personal expenses. Both the Police Department and the Town Attorney's Office were investigating the matter before the resignations were received.
There is no word as to whether the State Attorney's Office will continue with its own investigation into the matter.
