Cheshire High School girls' soccer (5-3; 3-1 in Housatonic Division) came back to defeat Shelton (2-5-1; 2-2) 2-1 on Wednesday. With 5:48 left, junior Kathleen Castrilli scored a pass from classmate Alexandra Pelletier to break the 1-1 tie.
Shelton took a 1-0 lead four minutes and 45 seconds into the game. Junior Hannah Gill assisted senior Kelly Howard. Cheshire trailed at halftime, but tied the score with 28:10 remaining. Juniors Hannah Perez and Kacey Conlon assisted classmate Hannah Bonitz.
Freshman goalkeeper Zoe Riccio compiled five saves for Cheshire.
The Lady Rams travel to North Haven (1-7) on Friday at 3:45 p.m. CHS won the first meeting 3-2 on Sept. 12.
Girls' Volleyball (10-0; 4-0)
Cheshire earned a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-16, 25-19) at Branford (6-4). Senior Kathleen Hastie served five aces (career-high), adding three kills and two blocks. Classmate Becca Ligi (eight kills), along with juniors Sarah Rodgers (23 assists) and Maria Buzzelli (16 digs), also contributed to the win.
Cheshire hosts Mercy on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CHS won 3-0 on Sept. 16 in Middletown.
Boys' Soccer (1-6-1; 1-3)
The Rams dropped their third straight game 4-1 at Shelton (5-1-2; 2-1-1). Shelton led 1-0 at halftime and extended to a 3-0 advantage before senior Griffen Andes tallied an unassisted goal.
CHS hosts North Haven (4-3-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. CHS took a 3-2 road loss on Sept. 12.
