CHS Sweeps Varsity Action On Monday, Prepares For Tuesday's Slate

Cheshire High School girls' swim and dive (4-0) defeated Shelton (0-4) on Monday. Junior Ellie Senft captured the 50-yard freestyle (26.95) and 100-yard backstroke (1:11.22). Alongside classmate Lindsay Smalec (100-yard butterfly, 1:00.42), Senft additionally won the 200-yard medley (senior Laura Mongillo, freshman Lily Kurtz; 1:59.12) and 400-yard freestyle (sophomore Danielle Grenon, senior Denise Costello; 4:04.04).
Mongillo (100-yard freestyle, 59.73), Costello (200-yard freestyle, 2:10.79), junior Taylor Plumley (500-yard freestyle, 5:38.82), and Kurtz (100-yard breaststroke, 1:13.15) were victorious individually. Mongillo, Kurtz, and Costello were triple winners by also taking first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (sophomore Lauren Pasinski; 1:53.88).
Boys' Soccer (1-3-1; 1-1 in Housatonic Division)
The Rams took their first win 3-1 at Lyman Hall (3-2; 0-1). Senior Joe Phillips supplied two goals. Classmate Bryan Carter and sophomore Eric Dishnica (goal) chipped in two assists. The points were the first of their careers. Junior goalkeeper Matt Skydel added four saves.
Cheshire hosts Guilford (3-0-2) on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Girls' Soccer (4-1; 2-0)
Cheshire earned a 6-0 shutout of Lyman Hall (0-4; 0-1). They led 4-0 at halftime. Junior Alexandra Pelletier posted two goals. Sophomore Alyssa Addesso added the first goal of her varsity career. Cheshire also received goals from senior Leah Chamberlin (assist), along with juniors Hannah Bonitz and Kathleen Castrilli. Junior Kelly Glatt added an assist. The win was the first shutout for freshman goalkeeper Zoe Riccio (four saves).
CHS travels to Amity on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
Girls' Volleyball (6-0; 2-0)
Senior Eryn Dorsey record six digs, two blocks, and three kills during a 3-0 sweep (25-8, 25-14, 25-11) of Lyman Hall (4-2; 0-1). Juniors Sarah Rodgers (22 assists, three aces) and Jillian Haberli (eight kills), along with senior Laura Heynen (six kills), were also key contributors.
The Lady Rams visit Sheehan on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Cross Country (Boys, 3-0; Girls, 2-1)
Cheshire faces Foran, Hillhouse, and Sheehan at Cheshire Park. Start time is 4 p.m.
