Lady Rams Capture Bethel Invite, Boys' Soccer Falls Against Rival

Cheshire High School girls' cross country compiled 41 points to take Saturday's 32nd Bethel Invite. Newtown, led by junior individual champion Hannah Schwartz (21:08), was second (71).
Junior Natalie Wickenheisser earned second (21:11) to only Schwartz. Junior Liz Cunningham (sixth, 22:01), seniors Erin Strahley (eighth, 22:10) and Kimmi Grove (12th, 22:41), freshman Camille Lewis (13th, 22:55), sophomore Esha Bhandari (28th, 23:50), and junior Caroline Lurz (52nd, 26:19) followed Wickenheisser.
Cheshire boys and girls will both run against Hillhouse, Sheehan, and Foran on Tuesday at Cheshire Park. Start time is 6 p.m.
Boys' Soccer (0-3-1)
Cheshire lost 2-0 against Amity (3-0-1) in Saturday's Housatonic Division opener.
The Rams look for their first win on Monday, visiting Lyman Hall at 3:45 p.m.
