In overtime, Cheshire High School field hockey (3-1) earned a 3-2 victory on Thursday at Farmington (3-0-0-1). The game-winner was tallied by senior Danielle Bellantonio, who converted a pass from classmate Olivia Larson with 1:45 remaining. It was Bellantonio's third goal of the year.
CHS led 2-0 at halftime. Seniors Michelle Federico and Emma Farrel had a goal and assist apiece. Senior goalkeeper Maddy Levy ended with a save.
Cheshire hosts Sheehan on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Girls' Swim And Dive (3-0)
At Walter J. Gawrych Community Pool, the Lady Rams moved to 3-0 with a 100-71 victory over host North Haven (1-3). Senior Laura Mongillo (200-yard freestyle, 2:05.26), juniors Lindsay Smalec (200-yard individual medley, 2:26.88), Ellie Senft (50-yard freestyle, 26.62), Morgan Fountain (100-yard freestyle, 59.51), Taylor Plumley (500-yard freestyle, 5:35.68), sophomores Danielle Grenon (1:07.03) and Lauren Pasinski (100-yard breaststroke, 1:14.49) were individual winners.
Smalec and Fountain also secured first places in the 200-yard medley (freshmen Emily Murphy and Lily Kurtz; 2:02.2) and freestyle (senior Denise Costello, Senft; 1:47.03) relays. The 400-yard freestyle team of Murphy, senior Alison Sklanka, freshman Kristen Reid, and Grenon ended the meet with a victory (4:03.56).
Cheshire hosts Shelton on Monday at 4 p.m.
