CHS Field Hockey Posts Shutout In Branford, Extends SCC Win Streak

Cheshire High School field hockey (2-0) earned their 32nd straight Southern Connecticut Conference victory 2-0 at Branford (0-2). Senior Michelle Federico scored in the first half and classmate Olivia Larson added another goal in the second. Seniors Danielle Bellantonio recorded two assists and classmate and Emma Farrel supplied one. Cheshire allowed just one penalty corner in the final minute. Senior goalkeeper Maddy Levy secured the shutout with four saves.
CHS visits Daniel Hand (1-0) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. It is a rematch of the 2012 SCC final that CHS won 1-0.
Cross Country
Cheshire boys and girls open the season in Saturday's Windham Invite at 9 a.m. Photos of senior boys' co-captains Ben Kaplan and Lucas Marcouiller and senior girls tri-captains Kimmi Grove, Taylor Bond, and Hyeonju Kwon were taken by Allen Paul/Cheshire Herald.
