In Thursday's home opener, Cheshire High School girls' swim and dive (2-0) picked up a 106-61 win over Hamden. Along with winning the 50- (26.61) and 100-yard (59.06) freestyles, junior Ellie Senft secured additional first places on her 200-yard medley (senior Brooke Phillips, freshman Lily Kurtz, junior Delaney Molnar; 1:59.84) and freestyle (freshmen Kathryn Robison and Emily Murphy, junior Lindsay Smalec; 1:48.5) relay squads. Junior Taylor Plumley claimed the 200- (2:07.26) and 500-yard (5:33.79) freestyles. Cheshire also received victories from Smalec (200-yard individual medley, 2:18.18) and Molnar (100-yard butterfly, 1:07.83).
The Lady Rams visit North Haven next Thursday at 4 p.m.
Girls' Soccer (2-0)
CHS defeated North Haven 3-2 in the home opener. Juniors Alexandra Pelletier and Victoria Schoenwald, along with Leah Chamberlin, tallied goals. It was the first varsity score for Schoenwald. Senior Lily Dolyak chipped in an assist.
Freshman goalkeeper Zoe Riccio posted five saves.
The Lady Rams host Sacred Heart Academy on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Girls' Volleyball (2-0)
Cheshire earned a 3-0 sweep at East Haven. Game scores: 25-15, 25-22, 25-11. Senior Phoebe Carmichael had six digs and three service aces. Juniors Sarah Rodgers (12 assists) and Jill Howard (five digs) also contributed.
CHS travels to Mercy on Monday at 5:15 p.m.
Boys' Soccer (0-2)
Using a goal from junior Ryan Chieffo with two minutes remaining, North Haven earned a 3-2 home win over Cheshire. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime. Senior Tyler Bailey netted his first goal (1-0) and senior Joe Phillips also scored. In his first varsity start, sophomore goalkeeper Russell Jasman provided four saves.
On Tuesday, Cheshire plays host Xavier at Oakwood Soccer Club in Portland. Start time is 3:45 p.m.
Field Hockey (1-0)
Cheshire visits Branford (0-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
