Pool Eval Committee To Answer Council Questions About Pool Recommendation Tonight

August 15, 2013 by John Rook

The Pool Evaluation Committee recently decided to recommend a tension membrane covering for the Cheshire Community Pool, and plans to discuss the option with members of the Cheshire Town Council tonight.
The covering, which is expected to cost between $2 and $3 million to install, would provide a permanent solution to the pool issue, which has remained uncovered since the previous bubble covering collapsed for the second time in less than three years during the February blizzard.
Tonight's meeting is not a public hearing and will simply be a question and answer period between Council members and the Committee. The public hearing on the issue will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
If the Council approves the recommendation, it will then be placed on the November ballot as a referendum question, leaving the ultimate decision up to Cheshire voters.
The meeting tonight will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in Council Chambers, Town Hall, at 84 South Main St.
