A decision on what to do with the Cheshire Community Pool is coming—just not this week.
A planned meeting of the Cheshire Town Council set for Tuesday, where it was anticipated that members would vote on a final recommendation for the pool made by the Pool Evaluation Committee, has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.
On Tuesday evening, the Republican and Democratic town committees will hold their respective caucuses to choose a slate of candidates for the November elections. As such, all members of the Council will be occupied and unable to attend the meeting.
This cancellation was met with hostility last week as supporters of the pool took to Facebook, on a site created by a group calling itself Friends of Cheshire Pool, to vent frustration that a decision would come at a later date.
However, members of the Council stated that a decision on the pool will be made as a part of the Capital Budget process, which happens in August, and that Tuesday's cancellation is not a adverse delay in the proceedings.
