If you're feeling cooped up inside and need something to do, but don't know what, here are a few events to consider on this busy weekend:
Saturday, June 15
*Special Needs Awareness Day
Cheshire Police Department
500 Highland Avenue
If you're the parent of a special needs child, this might be the event for you. In an effort to introduce both parents and children to Cheshire Emergency Personnel, the Cheshire Police Department, along with the Cheshire Fire Department, will be holding a Special Needs Awareness Day. You'll your both the police station and fire department, along with a look at a Campion ambulance. It's all in an effort to familiarize special needs children with officers and firefighters, to develop a comfort level and trust.
Cheshire Dog Park
Next to 1220 Waterbury Road (Artsplace)
1 to 4 p.m.
It's not just humans who could use a break from the rain and a chance to stretch their legs. Dogs also are looking to get out of the house and socialize. What better way than at the Canine Carnival. Bring your friends to this fun event and hang out with other dog lovers on the expected site of the Cheshire Dog Park.
*Tag Sale and Art Show
Cheshire Senior Center
240 Maple Avenue
Combining a tag sale with an art show is sure to interest a wide variety of people. Come out to the Senior Center to find that hidden gem or new piece of art on the wall.
Sunday, June 16
Yes, it's Father's Day, but why not make a special trip out to help a special dad. Mike Weed recently had a stroke and is recovering at a nearby hospital. To help the family with what is expected to be a litany of medical bills, Mike's family and friends have teamed up to sponsor Weedstock, a day that promises a little something for everyone, from food and beverages to games and music. Stop by and enjoy part of your day.
