The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation announced the winners of its Community Awards Program last night at a special ceremony honoring and awarding grants totaling $53,500 to 40 local non-profit organizations.
The program, which kicked off in January, encouraged Naugatuck Savings Bank customers to vote for a local charity of their choice to receive a grant from the Foundation. Over 1,700 customers voted this year and organizations that receive at least 1% of the total votes receive a grant. In addition, for those receiving less than one percent of the total votes, a $500 grant is awarded to six randomly selected eligible recipients.
At the ceremony, two Cheshire organizations were honored with a grant:
First Congregational Church — $1388.89
Thresholds, Inc. — $500
