Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse (13-3; 10-0 in Southern Connecticut Conference) erased an 11-8 deficit en route to a 13-11 overtime win against Newtown (9-7) in the regular season finale. The Nighthawks scored at the end of regulation, however, it was called off. Cheshire took their first lead (12-11) on the second goal by junior Maddy Levy. Senior Kathleen Kalbian (assist) added another tally in the first frame of OT.
CHS rallied to tie the game 3-3 at halftime. Senior Alison Hoynes had four goals (tie for personal-best). Classmate Nicole Stauffer scored a hat trick. Junior Olivia Larson recorded two goals. Classmate Emma Farrel assisted twice and senior Christy Myjak added a helper. Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Carbone totaled 11 saves.
Cheshire carries the top seed into Tuesday's SCC semifinal at Hamden. Tournament information to come later.
Boys' Lacrosse (7-9)
Cheshire lost the regular season finale 14-9 at Lincoln-Sudbury. Sophomore Matt Blois (assist) posted two goals. Seniors Tom Dupont, Chris Trasacco, and John Klemenz all had a goal and an assist. Senior Tim Covel, juniors Matt Samuelson and Ben Hamel, and sophomore Christian Russo also scored. Senior Tyler Sheehan added an assist. Junior goalkeeper Jared Lawson compiled 22 saves.
The Rams await seeding for the Class L Tournament.
