Plans for the long-delayed north end development complex has begun to move forward once again, as project officials expect to file a final site plan by the end of this month.
W/S Development will be submitting the plans and expect them to be reviewed by various commissions in June. The project has been scaled down by about 40,000 square feet and has changed names. The development will now be dubbed “The Outlets at Cheshire” and, as the name states, it will be focused on the outlet shopping experience.
“The last plan was a more traditional shopping center, but we are gravitating more towards an outlet format,” explained Louis Masiello, vice president of development for W/S. “Tenants coming to us today (that are) looking for space are really apparel and fashion merchandising stores.”
Masiello said no contracts have been signed, but W/S should be ready to announce some tenants by this fall.
Pending approvals, Masiello expects construction to begin by the end of the year.
There could be upwards of 80 stores at “The Outlets at Cheshire” when the development is scheduled to open in the summer of 2015.
