Lonardelli Leads CHS Baseball Past Sheehan, Lady Rams End Dual-Meet Season

Cheshire High School baseball (7-8; 2-5 in Housatonic Division) beat Sheehan (7-8; 4-4) 2-0 on Wednesday, earning a split of the season of the season. Junior pitcher Ethan Lonardelli surrendered four hits in a complete game. He had four strikeouts and yielded a walk.
The scoreless game was snapped in the fifth inning. An throwing error scored junior Wes Robertson and freshman Tommy Savino, who had singled.
Senior Kyle Hodgdon, junior Dan Schock, and sophomore Adam vonFischer added hits. Sheehan sophomore pitcher Brandon Rentas took the loss.
Cheshire travels to Lyman Hall (1-13; 0-6) for Friday's Housatonic finale at 3:45 p.m. CHS won 14-2 on April 19.
Girls' Outdoor Track And Field (10-2)
The Lady Rams split with West Haven (129-20, win) and host Amity (86-64, loss) in the dual-meet finale. Senior Jenna Hart won the 800-meters (2:30.19) and ran on the victorious 4x800-meter relay (sophomore Sharon Bian, junior Theresa Cashore, senior Hannah Purtell; 10:22.18). Sophomore Natalie Wickenheisser claimed the 1,600- (5:46.04) and 3,200-meters (12:24.83). Sophomore Alexandra Pelletier was first in the 400-meters (1:00.92). Senior Ariel Greene (discus; 101 feet) and junior Selina Sampieri (pole vault; 10 feet) secured field events.
The girls return to Amity for Tuesday's Southern Connecticut Conference East Sectional at 2:30 p.m.
Thursday's varsity schedule:
Girls' Golf (11-2)
At Tower Ridge Golf Course, Cheshire faces host Canton and Northwest Catholic at 3 p.m.
Boys' Golf (11-3; 4-1 in Housatonic Division)
Cheshire hosts Amity at 2:30 p.m. CHS lost 324-336 on April 9.
Girls' Lacrosse (10-3)
The Lady Rams host Amity (3-9) at 3:45 p.m.
Softball (10-5; 4-2 in Housatonic Division)
CHS visits Shelton (5-10; 3-3) at 4 p.m. Cheshire beat them 13-2 on April 18.
Boys' Volleyball (9-3)
The Rams visit Maloney at 6 p.m. Cheshire won 3-0 on April 17.
Boys' Lacrosse (6-7)
CHS hosts Branford (6-6) in the final home game at 6:30 p.m. Seniors Tim Covel (captain), Tom Dupont (captain), Dan Brennan, Chris Capone, Anthony Delbuono, Nick Graikoski, John Klemenz, Jack Naramore, Erik Pierson, Tyler Sheehan, and Chris Trasacco will be recognized.
