Trasacco Nets Game-Winner For CHS Boys' Lacrosse, Girls Fall Short Against Simsbury

In overtime, Cheshire High School boys' lacrosse (6-7) defeated host Notre Dame-West Haven (5-7) 9-8 on senior Chris Trasacco's fourth goal. Trasacco, who added an assist, also knotted the game 8-8 with 44 seconds left on Extra Man Opportunity.
Junior goalkeeper Jared Lawson accumulated 16 saves for the second consecutive game, helping Cheshire rally out of 5-3 deficit at halftime. Senior Tom Dupont compiled four assists and scored a goal. Junior Matt Samuelson found the back of the net twice. Junior Ben Hamel had two assists and a goal. Senior John Klemenz (goal), along with sophomores Matt Blois and Zach Winch, added assists.
The Rams will recognize 11 seniors before Thursday's Senior Night against Branford (6-6) at 6:30 p.m.
Boys' Outdoor Track And Field (9-3)
In the dual-meet finale, Cheshire beat host Jonathan Law (93-57) and lost against Daniel Hand (93-57). Senior Sagar Nakrani (3,200-meters, 10:12) and junior Trey Phillips (800-meters, 2:04.4) were victorious on the track. Senior Kevin Dietrich (long jump; 18 feet, five inches), junior Chibueze Njoku (discus; 130, nine), and freshman Ethan LaChance (javelin; 124, 2.5) claimed field events.
Amity hosts Tuesday's East Sectional at 2:30 p.m.
Girls' Lacrosse (10-3)
On Senior Night, CHS lost 14-9 against Simsbury (9-1). The Trojans led 9-4 at halftime. Senior Alison Hoynes supplied a hat trick, joining classmate Christy Myjak (goal) with an assist. Senior Kathleen Kalbian and junior Maddy Levy scored twice. Junior Michelle Federico also scored. Sophomore Alexa Carbone had four saves. Lauren Como (captain), Hoynes (captain), Kalbian (captain), Myjak (captain), Emily Dooley, Nicole Stauffer, and Maddie Tenenbaum were honored seniors.
Simsbury senior Tess Mackay had four goals and five assists. Classmate Grace McCann had 11 saves in goal.
Cheshire hosts Amity on Thursday at Bartlem Recreation Area. Start time is 4 p.m.

Boys' Golf (10-3; 4-1 in Housatonic Division)
At Brooklawn Country Club, Fairfield Prep swept visiting CHS 154-157. Juniors Tom Arisco (37) and Jake Ecke (39) broke 40. Senior Eric Dietrich (40), sophomore Chris Simione (41), and junior Ben Kaplan (42) were separated by a stroke.
Cheshire hosts Amity on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Girls' Tennis (9-4)
The Lady Rams take a five-match win streak into Branford (7-6) at 3:45 p.m. Cheshire won the first meeting 4-3 on April 5.
Girls' Outdoor Track And Field (9-1)
CHS faces host Amity and West Haven in the dual meet finale at 3:45 p.m.
Baseball (6-8; 1-5)
Cheshire hosts Sheehan (7-7; 4-3) at 4 p.m. The Rams lost 9-3 on April 17.
