Ambitious Plan For Ball & Socket Factory Moving Forward

May 7, 2013 by Josh Morgan

Ball & Socket Arts has entered into a sales agreement with Dalton Enterprises to purchase the former Ball & Socket factory site on West Main Street.
The non-profit group formed by three local residents has a contract with the Dalton, who owns the historic site, pending the approval of various Town of Cheshire boards and commissions. Ball & Socket Arts plan is to transform the factory site into a cultural and entertainment center that will be home to art galleries, restaurants, performance space, retail shops, and more. According to Ilona Somogyi, one of the founders of Ball & Socket Arts, pending regulatory and financing approvals, the purchase could occur in November.
“It’s been a very difficult negotiation to get to contract, so this is a big step,” she explained. “We have a lot of design work and regulatory work to do over the next couple of months.”
