Cheshire Girls' Tennis Is Riding Win Streak

At Jonathan Law (3-9), the Lady Rams (7-4) earned a 7-0 sweep for their third victory in a row. Seniors Meredith Bryden and Lindsey Garibaldi (6-1, 6-1), junior sisters Christy and Katie Freitag (6-1, 7-6), and freshmen Amanda Murray and Durga Rathi (7-6, 10-5) swept doubles. Senior Anna Toscano (3-6, 6-2, 6-4), junior Nadja Pejovic (6-1, 6-0), sophomore Sara Bruce (6-0, 6-1), and senior Jamie Andrews (4-6, 6-0, 10-3) did the same in singles.
Cheshire hosts Lyman Hall (5-4) on Friday at 3:45 p.m.

Girls' Golf (8-1)
At Avon's Blue Fox Run, the Lady Rams (200) defeated Simsbury (207) and came up short against host Avon (177). Senior Andra Frappier led the team with a 41. Classmates Emily Larkin (49), Megan Robles (54), and Maggie Kulpa (56) followed them.
On Thursday, CHS travels to the Indian Hills Country Club to face host Newington at 3 p.m.
Boys' Outdoor Track And Field (8-2)
Cheshire split against Shelton (81.67-68.33, win) and Xavier (98-52, loss). Xavier is 9-1, while Shelton is 6-4. The loss to Xavier ended a seven-match win streak for the Rams. Seniors Sagar Nakrani (3,200-meters, 10:04.4) and Kevin Dietrich (triple jump; 39 feet, one inch) and junior Liam Nicoll (400-meters, 50.8) added victories.
It was the final home dual meet for seniors Nick Jakowenko (captain), Sagar Nakrani (captain), Jack Amato, Joseph Anthony, Corey Bellagamba, Patrick Carey, Kevin Dietrich, Patrick Germain, Blake Giosa, Thomas Harris, Matt Kirby, Srihashar Kondapally, Joe Nowak, and Jon Rasimas.
The Middletown Invite runs Friday (3:30 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.).

Wednesday's varsity schedule:
Baseball (5-6; 1-3 in Housatonic Division)
CHS hosts Shelton (7-5; 3-1) at 4:15 p.m. Cheshire lost the Housatonic opener 6-2 on April 10.
Softball (8-4; 3-1)
The Lady Rams host Sheehan (7-4; 1-2) in a Pink Game at 3:45 p.m. CHS will wear pink to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Proceeds from a bake sale will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Cheshire captured the Housatonic opener 8-2 on April 10.
Girls' Outdoor Track And Field (7-1)
CHS hosts Lyman Hall and North Haven in the final home dual meet at 3:45 p.m. It will be Senior Day for Jenna Hart (captain), Saparja Nag (captain), Hannah Purtell (captain), Lindsey Bonitz, Emily Gomes, Ariel Greene, Brittney Gunneson, Sara Ilnicki, Rachel Lochowski, Hannah Perlroth, Tiffany Wang. Boys' Volleyball (8-2)
The Rams visit unbeaten Oxford (11-0) at 5 p.m. Oxford ended Cheshire's 47-match win streak, 3-0, on April 10.
Boys' Lacrosse (4-5)
Cheshire hosts Daniel Hand (6-4) on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
