Cheshire High School girls' lacrosse (8-1) earned their seventh straight win 10-6 against Branford (3-5). They swept both regular season games. Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Carbone (personal-best nine saves) allowed just one goal in the first half at which point Cheshire led 4-1.
Senior Kathleen Kalbian had four goals and two assists. Classmate Christy Myjak scored twice. Seniors Nicole Stauffer (assist) and Alison Hoynes, along with juniors Maddy Levy (assist) and Emma Farrel, chipped in goals.
The Lady Rams host Guilford (4-3) on Monday at 4 p.m. Cheshire won the first meeting 15-8 on April 8.
Girls' Tennis (5-4)
Cheshire defeated Hillhouse/Career (2-6) 6-1 to break a four-game skid. Seniors Meredith Bryden and Lindsey Garibaldi (6-0, 6-1), juniors Christy and Katie Freitag (6-0, 6-2), and senior Jess Joseph and junior Erin Albrecht (6-3, 6-0) were victorious teams in doubles. Senior Anna Toscano (2-6, 6-2, 6-3), sophomore Sara Bruce (6-1, 6-2), and senior Jamie Andrews (7-5, 7-5) added wins in singles.
CHS has more wins than they had in 2012. The Lady Rams host West Haven on Monday at 4 p.m.
Baseball (4-6; 1-3 in Housatonic Division)
Cheshire jumped out to a 7-1 lead by the sixth inning and held on for a 7-5 victory at Hamden (3-8). Senior Christian Colp (eight hits, four strikeouts, walk) was relieved by classmates Zach Goul (three walks, hit) and PJ Watson (hit by pitch) during the seventh inning. Watson earned the save after posting a strikeout to end the game.
Junior Dan Schock had four singles with two runs scored and RBIs. Classmate Kyle Waldron led off the sixth with his first home run. Sophomore Cooper Mrowka scored twice and added a walk, sharing an RBI single with senior Kyle Hodgdon.
CHS hosts Joseph Foran on Monday at 4 p.m.
Boys' Tennis (5-5)
The Rams had won five straight matches before falling 4-3 at Joseph Foran (8-3). Cheshire received a doubles sweep from sophomores Jackson Ajello and Abdullah Choudhry (6-3, 6-3), senior Blake Wetmore and junior Greg Zovas (6-1, 6-2), and freshmen Joseph Cashore and Jeff Russitano (6-3, 6-2).
CHS visits Sheehan on Monday at 3:45 p.m.
Boys' Lacrosse (3-5)
Cheshire hosts Conard (4-3) at 11 a.m.
