After starting 0-4, Cheshire High School boys' tennis won their fifth straight 5-2 against Xavier (4-2). Jackson Ajello and Abdullah Choudhry (6-4, 6-4) and seniors Andrew Carroll and Blake Wetmore (6-3, 6-1) contributed wins in doubles. Junior Nick Anthony (6-1, 7-5), along with sophomores Reilly Eldredge (6-4, 6-4) and David Light (6-4, 6-3), were singles winners.
The Rams visit Joseph Foran (8-3) on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
Girls' Lacrosse (7-1)
Junior Emma Farrel scored four goals to help Cheshire beat host Conard 10-9 for their sixth straight victory. CHS reeled off four goals in a row, two from Farrel, to take a 10-6 lead. The surge held up.
Farrel scored twice before halftime at which CHS led 4-3. Senior Kathleen Kalbian (two assists) and junior Maddy Levy both netted two goals. Senior Alison Hoynes (goal), along with juniors Michelle Federico and Danielle Chambrelli, chipped in assists. Junior Olivia Larson tallied a goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Sierra Ubertalli added five saves.
Cheshire hosts Branford (3-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. CHS won the first meeting 18-8 on April 11.
Boys' Outdoor Track And Field (127 points)
The Rams won the Cheshire Little 'C' Invite. Individual winners were Ethan LaChance (javelin; 129 feet, 7 inches), Andrew Levy (triple jump; 31, 11), Mike Goodrich (high jump; 4, 8), and David Amann (800-meters, 2:21.2). The 4x800-meter team (Russell Jasman, Owen Kennelly, Noah Hollman, George Bonadies; 11:09.9) also took first place.
Softball (7-4; 3-1 in Housatonic Division)
Jonathan Law (6-4) broke a scoreless game in the sixth inning, scoring twice to end Cheshire's three-game win streak. Senior Nicole D'Amato fired 11 strikeouts, giving up just three hits and a walk. Sophomore Sara Como added two hits at the plate.
Cheshire visits North Haven (8-3) on Monday at 7 p.m.
